‘Nehru’s World’
15042014Nehru Memorial Museum and Library
cordially invites you to a Workshop
at 9.00 a.m. on Saturday, 19th April 2014
in the Seminar Room, First Floor, Library Building
on
‘Nehru’s World’
Concept Note:
Our commemoration takes the form of a reflection on Nehru and his world. His universe obviously included India, but it embraced all of humanity. As he shaped India in so many different ways over more than five decades, he was aware, more than most of his generation, that it was an India in the world, not an India locked into itself. He ceaselessly reflected upon how this particular was related to an universal and how they shaped each other. Perhaps India itself provided a model of it, of how the immense multiplicity within India could constitute the larger entity, which he summed up in the formula, “unity in diversity.”
To this end, the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library is hosting a series of three events, each with a distinct focus and thematic coherence. This workshop is the first of the three events and will focus on Nehru and the World. All are open events and aims to provide a platform for original and creative scholars to share their approaches with us.

My intuition says “Arvind is not the one, not at all”
15042014Dr. Rajesh Bhat
To Suraj Parkash TutejaRavinder SinghChauthi Duniya and 352 More…
Apr 14 at 9:10 PM
Dear Shri Suraj Prakash ji,
Greetings!
I can understand your sentiments, and your expectations from AAP.
Even I had high hopes from AAP before it formed the Government at Delhi.
I could have not responded to your mail, but I could not resist when I see gullible (senior) citizens like you still have high hopes from AAP.
But since the day it formed the Government at Delhi, it did not come to our expectations at all. It was more of show off than achieving real results on the ground.
Not going through numerous accounts, whereby AAP disappointed all of us,
I consider the specific account which matches the one you faced.
I cannot forget how thousands of grievance applications, which sufferers like you brought to Arvind with high hopes, ate dust and the apathy shown towards those persons by the AAP Government. Arvind failed all of us.
Actually, only GOD can save this country, till we get a real Hero to lead our country.
Of course, my intuition says “Arvind is not the one, not at all”
Regards,
Dr. Rajesh Bhat.

EC must intervene to stop attacks on AAP candidates
15042014EC must intervene to stop attacks on AAP candidates From: AAPMaharashtra News Tue, 15 Apr ’14 9:22aTo: undisclosed-recipients:;Show full Headers
Press Note
15th April 2014
The Aam Aadmi Party demands the immediate intervention of the Election Commission of India to ensure free and fair elections, following two separate cases of physical assault and intimidation of its Lok Sabha candidates in Bihar and Jharkhand.
In the first case, the AAP candidate from Nalanda parliamentary constituency in Bihar, Pranav Prakash was attacked and brutally beaten up with an intention to murder him on Sunday night.
He was in Udarfu village under Bind police station, (Asthava vidhan sabha) of Nalanda district. A group of 20-30 goons, armed with rods, pistols and other weapons, attacked the car in which he was travelling, broke the windows of his car, dragged him into a ditch and brutally beat him, till he fell unconscious.
It is shocking and highly regrettable that when the Election Commission officials/observers in Nalanda district were contacted, they refused to come and informed the AAP volunteers that they would meet them in the morning. Such a shocking behavior shows gross negligence, apathy and favouritism towards the ruling party in Bihar on the part of these officials. In the second incident, the AAP candidate from Khunti parliamentary constituency of Jharkhand and well-known adivasi activist Dayamani Barla and her campaign team are being regularly threatened.
Her campaign team and supporters have been threatened and harmed twice by armed militants till now, which is very worrying. On April 7, the vehicle carrying the AAP supporters towards Arki block was stopped at Birbanki by some armed militants at 3:00 PM. They took away the car keys and mobile phones of all members, who however, managed to escape on foot at 7 PM and walked through the jungle all night to reach Khunti back only the next morning.
The next incident took place on April 9, when some AAP supporters, including two women, were stopped at Bikwadag in Karra block by six armed men. One of them said that he was the zonal commander of extremist outfit People’s Liberation Front of India (PLFI), which will not allow any campaigning for the AAP, and anybody doing so would be killed. The PLFI has made it clear that it
will only the campaign of Jharkhand Party’s candidate Anosh Ekka .
These incidents show that vested interests are trying to discourage the presence of the AAP in the electoral arena and it is for the EC to ensure that candidates are allowed to campaign without any fear and people are allowed to participate in the democratic process without any undue influence.
Regards,
AAP Media Ce

15042014Medha Patkar leads a sea of people to commemorate Baba Saheb Amebdkar’s 123rd birth anniversary.
While the election time air is shrill with issues revolving around personalities on both sides of the political spectrum, several thousands of Mumbai citizens marched across the city symbolically to reassert that the Indian constitution was the best political ideology for equitable development and accountability. Led by Medha Patkar, the Aam Aadmi Party rally drew thousands of people who came together to share a common yearning that respecting the Indian constitution and running the country according to its spirit was the best guarantee for a corruption-free India. The rally was a collective expression of people that most of the recent problems concerning corruption, bad governance, lack of accountability emanated from non-observance of the Indian constitution in letter and the spirit.
The rally was unlike other political rallies as it exhorted everyone to take a collective vow to strengthen Indian democracy on the basis of equality and fairness. A ‘sankalp patra’ ( A Manifest of Commitment) was circulated at the rally. The Aam Aadmi rally was organized in observance of the birth anniversary of the architect of Indian constitution, Baba Saheb Amebdkar, which has been called the ‘Samvidhan Gaurav Rally’ by its leader, Medha Patkar.
Addressing the rally, Medha Patkar, who is contesting from the Mumbai (North East) constituency, reaffirmed her commitment to root out the corruption from the country and usher in true ‘swa-rajya’. Addressing the gathering, Medha Patkar, promised that she will work towards decentralization of political power and make Parliament as a true forum for India’s common public. She said that active participation of people in policy making was vital for Indian democracy. She appealed to public that each locality should become a forum for political process and function as people’s mini-parliament towards attaining equality and justice enshrined in the constitution.
A large contingent of school children from Kerala added color to the rally by singing songs eulogizing the Indian constitution. A large number of artists and eminent public personalities too participated in the rally including actor, director Ratnakar Matkari, film director Anand Patwardhan , veteran social activist Pushpa Bhave , Journalist, Yuvraj Mohite, TV artist Suhita Thatte, Telgu film actress, Razia and activist and writer, Kumar Prashant .
